Meet Ms. Stephanie
“Being an ISR instructor is a dream come true!”
Hi!
About Me: I was an ISR swim Mom before deciding to get certified myself. I loved watching my own children learn and was comforted as a mother knowing that my kids could self rescue in an emergency. In addition to my family and ISR, I love all kids, dogs, horses, baking, reading, and swimming.
I was born to be a teacher. After graduating from Valparaiso High School, I earned my undergraduate degree in English Language Arts and German Education from Ohio Northern University, and my masters degree in Teaching and Learning in Urban Schools from Vanderbilt University. I spent 18 years teaching middle school in Nashville, TN.
Deciding to move home to NWI allowed me to make a “career pivot” from teaching in a classroom to a pool! So, here we are! I am so excited to get little hoosiers floating and swimming!
Let’s Swim!
My ISR story:
I was an ISR swim Mom before deciding to get certified myself. I loved watching my own children learn and was comforted as a mother knowing that my kids could self-rescue in an emergency.
It all began with a friend’s Facebook post. I saw her kids floating and swimming like champs, so I immediately looked into getting the same lessons for my son and found ISR. I was hooked at his first lesson and the rest is history! Both of my children are ISR graduates. My son started in 2019 when he was 17 months old, and my daughter started in 2020 when she was 10 months old. They are both fish at seven and five.
My daughter floating at 10 months old
My son doing check out skills in clothes when he was 2 years old
Continuing education is an important part of being an ISR instructor
For the record, Ms. Stephanie can float too!
